WHAT IS GAL MUN

GALMUN is City School Gulshan A-Level’s take on the ‘Model United Nations’,
which seeks to simulate the United Nations Conference model. Students from all
over Karachi will engage in moderated debate imitating the procedures of the United
Nations, addressing issues ranging from economics and warfare, to ethics and climate
change.
Participants are given the task of roleplaying as diplomats representing a nation in a
simulated session of a UN Committee, such as the UNSC or the CCI. Through
lobbying and negotiations, participants will create resolutions with their policies, and
aim to solve the problems presented to them. This is the cornerstone of GALMUN;
lively discussion and debate.
GALMUN is unique in two aspects; most of our committees are Asian parliamentary
debates, with only the NASHR representing international interests in the subject of
human rights. Participants will also function with the powers and authority of the
country and people they represent, adding an extra layer of complexity. The other
unique aspect we’ve introduced is an expansion on the public and private directive system.
